Most people expect to encounter sharks in the deep sea or the middle of the ocean. Surfing on a beach in California or Florida how amazing is it that vivid shark attack signs are being erected along the beach? If you talk to someone who claims to know better, they will tell you that sharks don’t eat humans. The run on joke will have to be because humans do not necessarily swim in the middle of the ocean on a daily basis. Hollywood movies claim that sharks smell blood and only surface from the deep dark sea at the smell of blood. But the argument is more complicated than that. Expert is versus the novice.
What if sharks had a craving for human flesh? What if the “great white” considered us as a rare delicacy? Would you deny that because some shark expert said it ain’t so? What do humans do in the summer? We save up our solid earnings only to wind up at a beach resort. Every year thousands upon thousands of healthy human beings crowd the beaches, laying in the sand and even going for a dip in the ocean.
Whether it’s South Africa for an exotic holiday, Barbados, Florida, Jersey Shore, Jamaica, Sandals, you name it. My heart goes out to every shark attack victim there is. There is nothing worse than an innocent person going for a dip and then suddenly being attacked by a beast. In my opinion, it is entirely possible that sharks migrate purposely to the surface in shallow waters to hunt humans. Over the centuries their natural instincts may have developed where they understand that while humans won’t go swimming in ocean depths they (human) flock on secluded beaches that are accessible to them. In response to that, they show up every summer laying in wait for that surfer or that unfortunate boat capsizing or the unsuspecting swimmer basking in cold sea water to cool down from the hot sun.*
