I’ve never been in trouble with the law. The only people who I may offend are people who probably read my blogs and didn’t agree with what I have to say.”
For almost seven years now, with good backing from my management, producer, and publisher, I’ve recorded albums, written books and ran my Freddy Will Industries imprint. Due to some success, I was honored with limited edition postage stamps which are currently available at the Sierra Leone post office and the Inter-Governmental Postal Consultants at www.imperialmint.com.
HERE ARE A FEW ISSUES: I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS:
1. Am I a mysterious bad boy who says or writes alluring things to get attention?
I don’t think so. I simply speak my mind. I’ve never been in trouble with the law. The only people who I may offend are people who probably read my blogs and didn’t agree with what I have to say. Apart from walking away from sketchy arrangements or competitive business, I’d say my nose is clean. My street cred does not come from crimes I committed, it comes from what I’ve seen my way through. That being said, what you see is what you’ll get.
2. Why do I write blogs?
Blog writing is my book writing process. As I research, I come upon subtopics which I find interesting, then I blog about them. Some of my blog ideas will appear in my book. My blogs are more of a practicing ground if anything. It’s like freestyling a rhyme before I write the actual verse for the song. I use my blog as an exercise to improve my skill.
I speak what’s on my mind and believe strongly that a sins is a sin. I do not commit homosexuality
but I commit other sins.”
3. Why do I write books?
I don’t want to be known ONLY as a rapper only. I want to be known as an author and a screenwriter as well. I feel music cannot say everything that needs to be said. Some people prefer to read. As a Hip-Hop artist, I want to bring something unique to the game.
4. If I could tell you something about my personal life?
I had a Christian upbringing. Both parents are ministers. Though I have religious views, I’m not religious. My family is Pentecostals, I lean towards the Catholic. I’ve resolved to say my grace and moving on.
5. Am I homophobic?
My moral views mirror on the Abraham doctrines of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I speak what’s on my mind and believe firmly that a sin is a sin. I do not commit homosexuality, but I commit other crimes. This means if they are going to hell then so am I. To me there is no difference between my sins and another person’s sins. As long as sin is committed, crime is a sin. I cannot go around criticizing people knowing I am also a sinner. I view the act of repentance is a personal conversation between each person and their conscience. I’ve mirrored my life on Abraham’s doctrine. I respect all people regardless of race, creed, religion or sexuality. In Hip Hop, however, offensive slang can be used that may reference a character trait without insulting a specific individual.

6. Do I have a problem with authority?
No. I do not. I’ve been a law-abiding citizen or resident in 6 different countries. In none of those countries have I ever had a problem with authority. I’ve lived in Canada for 7 years, if I were a troublemaker, I would have committed a few crimes and been to jail by now. And I’m not getting any younger. If there is an injustice, I speak on it. Sometimes I blame the West for interfering with third world countries either through war or slavery. This is no different than a Native Indian blaming Europeans for stealing their land. I’ve always been intriguingly passionate about history. This has nothing to do with obeying or disobeying authority. People create controversy when they do not understand what’s being said.
7. Am I a gangster rapper who is currently involved in criminal activities?
Absolutely not. On my first record, I rapped about a cold street lifestyle which is what I experienced years before leaving Africa. This is what artistry is about. In ‘My Book Of Chrymes,’ I explained how and why I wrote those songs and why it was vital for me to release them. I still identify with some aspects of street, hood or ghetto lifestyles, profanities, slang, street ways of analyzing deeds like snitching, an eye for an eye and grind mode, etc. But I live a crime-free life, concentrating on family, friends, goals, securing a brighter future, writing and recording music, reading and writing books and so forth. No crime.
I promote my stuff as an artist and an author and I don’t intend on stopping until I can afford to hire more people to do it on my behalf or when I retire.”
8. Why do I promote my own music and books?
I promote my own music and books because I feel my talent sparks interest in some people who wish to do the same things I’m doing. There is no way they will promote my material when they have theirs. As someone who never really lived in any one country for over 10 years, I do not have a network of people who know me well enough to owe me that kind of sacrifice. Honestly speaking, most times when people help me out they are doing me a favor. I know people, I’m building a network of friends, someday I will earn that type of love. I’ve made valuable friendships in all the countries I’ve lived in so hopefully, yeah.
It’s just different for me when it comes to promotion. I get competition first. If I don’t do it myself, my material might never get out there. I’ve promoted my stuff so much I feel I should write my own magazines articles, Wikipedia page, and everything. (LOL) JK. I encourage my thing as an artist and an author, and I don’t intend on stopping until I can afford to hire more people to do it on my behalf or when I retire. My management also does a lot of promotion on my behalf, my publisher promotes me all the time, and my producer encourages me as well. Friends support me, fans share my work with each other, etc. For the most part, I enjoy promoting my own stuff as an artist and an author. My personal life is what I keep off limits. This side of me is only for people who are in my life.*

First of all I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!
