Most of them were written during the time of war or while I was a refugee at different times during those despairing times in my life.”
I’m set to unleash my first book, “My Book of Chrymes,” with a new version of my 2008 debut album. Originally intended to be a re-release of my debut album with three additional tracks. “While I’m Still Young – The Talking Drums 1. 2v now contains nine new tracks with some exciting new features.
As a Liberian raised, Freetown, Sierra Leone-born American, I grew up idolizing the likes of Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Treach (of Naughty By Nature), Scarface, Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and The Notorious B.I.G., just to name a few Hip Hop stars who influenced me. I recently signed with Soul Asylum Poetry and Publishing Inc, in Ontario, Canada to publish two books; one of which will be released on August 11TH, 2009.
A second civil war brought more terror, death and torture to many.”
“My Book of Chrymes” is about some of my encounters before, during and after the civil wars in Liberia and my struggles in the slum-like ghettos of Sierra Leone. The second civil war brought more terror, death, and torture to many. “My Book of Chrymes” also details my experiences in the crocodile estate of The Gambia. Also, in the Woolf and French-speaking lands of Dakar, Senegal in West Africa, it tells my story of how I made it out.
The chronicles in this book and album connect the reader with my music experience and give commentary on how the songs were written. Most of them were written during the time of war or while I was a refugee at different times during those sad times of my life. It compares my encounters with tribalism in Africa to my experiences with racism in the United States, connecting that to my inevitable plunge into the streets of New Jersey.
With those days behind me and a new sun on my horizon, I venture to begin a life of stability and providence while educating all who wish to learn about the woes and turmoils of war. As a rapper, I have seen my share of street credibility from the rubber plantations of Liberia to the lonely ghettos of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Through to the edges of refugee communities in the Gambia and Senegal doing whatever it took to survive in the mid to late 90’s, I now embrace a new life in Canada.
With a background in Theatre Arts I aspire to bring West African and Caribbean/West Indies story to the big screen in Europe, Canada, Asia and The United States Of America.”
As an author, I aspire to walk in the shadows of the likes of famous storytellers like William Shakespeare and John Grisham. With a background in Theatre Arts, I want to bring West African and Caribbean/West Indies story to the big screen in Europe, Canada, Asia and The United States Of America. As a philanthropist, I want to help bring comfort to the sick, the cripple and the orphaned.*
