RACISM – Just because One speaks on race issues to shed light on double standards in society does not mean they are a troublemaker. I address many problems where I look at both sides and contrast today’s norm with the perceptions where society has evolved from. The main thing I want people to understand about me is, I am far from a racist or a troublemaker. I agree, some statements may sound harsh, but I need everyone to know I appreciate all cultures. I yearn for a time when racial equality is practiced everywhere. A time when Hollywood after promoting movies that glorify ancient Rome, Greece, Mayan, and Europe also encourage movies that glorify ancient civilizations of Africa: from Nigeria to Congo, Ethiopia to Ghana, Songhai to the Mali Empire.One that worships prehistoric Zulu, Arab, Asian, Indian and Jewish cultures. A positive representation in the media and in ceremonies at Western workplaces, schools, and universities; to impart that knowledge in all mentalities.
MISOGYNY – Everyone knows sex sells. A blog about sexy women should not be seen as exploitation. Indeed it is an art for those who enjoy fantasies of female beauty and sexuality. I discredit the notion of cheating by religious views that promote abstinence from premarital sex. If a fornicator cheats on their partner, they are not in the wrong because both they and their partner were already wrong for having pre-marital sex in the first place. If the fornicator broke an agreed commitment, then that is wrong. If you condemn polygamy, I would also point to significant leaders and kings in the Bible and Qur’an who had multiple wives and concubines. This is not a ploy against women. It merely states that if King David could marry several wives and be God’s favorite person then how is it different now when we have the same God? It’s educative. I see writing as an art, and even though I want people to adhere to the norms of the times, I also want them to appreciate other perspectives.
Man made rules are not higher than God’s standards. However, I also believe in the laws of the land. This creates plenty to write about especially with the recent changes in our social structure. I’m like a comedian or a philosopher who ponders on a topic. I believe in romance, my example is from my own parents and grandparents. I treat women with respect and also think such respect comes with responsibility.
HOMOPHOBIA – I believe a man’s sexual partner should not be with another man. When SUCH views that differ from today’s norm are expressed, one is labeled a homophobic. Even the most accomplished evangelists, priests, and spiritual advisers are shying away from the topic. It is as if, with the popularization and broad acceptance of homosexuality one cannot speak against it anymore. This is a huge double standard because if one could call you a homophobic, then you should be free to call them names as well. In both instances, I would not condone any disrespect against either the homosexual or the straight person. It should be against the law to persecute someone because of their heterosexual sexual orientation.
We shouldn’t restrict people from their religious doctrine by threatening to shut them up and/or ignore their views. Someone said I go into homophobic rants in my articles. If this is one of such rants, I apologize. I feel dangerous that we all need to be officially informed when a revamped constitution has trumped all established dogmas (Is the government now above God?) Besides religious condemnation of homosexuality (which I did not invent), the inability to reproduce through homosexual intercourse tells me that it is also unnatural. Yet, who am I to judge anyone? I may not commit that sin, but I commit other crimes, so I am at God’s mercy just as much as any homosexual would be.
Therefore it will be hypocritical to judge a homosexual just because of their sexuality even if I am uncomfortable with the sexuality based on my religious beliefs. I don’t advocate for any type of discrimination against gays. I am a heterosexual male who respects everyone. I do not hate gays, I only think we are rewriting doctrine that shouldn’t be revised. It makes me wonder if the theory was ever holy in the first place. When I blog on topics like Jersey Shore ripping from Hip Hop to establish an Italian pop trend, I’m not racist. I’m narrating a story in the way that it was initially meant to be questioned. I write in context to express the thoughts I convey. Many who missed out on previous doctrines can be informed of what was and compare that to what it is today.
However, this does not mean I personally disrespect the progress or freedom of gays. Whether it be good or bad, I will side with the ability to co-exist with people who understand and appreciate the differences in each other. My bottom line is people are free to express their views.
MATERIALISM – I’m one of those guys who feel guilty if I have something I don’t really need while someone else needs it and don’t have it. I might have an extra drink or go overboard when shopping, but I remember where I came from. I know what it’s like to be hungry, I know what it’s like to feel abandoned and I know what it’s like to need something as simple as love, a ride or someone to understand and help you. New technologies have proved useful to people who wish to keep abreast with the Jones. Some things are unnecessary to one group of people while others see them as poorly needed necessities. I promote business, marketing, indulgence and the ability to live life to the fullest. Many who know me, know I would gladly be content with a few good things rather than to buy the most extravagant of things just for show. Like all people I have a selection of dream items and experiences which I would like to indulge in before my time is over. I am blessed with plenty in a world of less, my ambition to stay grounded and balanced is one of the things that drive me.
VIOLENCE AND CRIME – Being a Hip-Hop artist, it is easy to assume that I’m interested in a world of anarchy; that my life impressions in a song are gang-related, etc. This is far from the truth. I take pride in being a law-abiding citizen. I’ve never been in trouble with the law in the six countries I’ve lived in. During the genocidal war in Sierra Leone, I was on the side of the government soldiers who were trying to stop the massacre. I believe some laws are foolishly based on the mistakes of the weak in our society, but that does not mean I would break them. However, our community is riddled with crime and violence, and people should question why it is that way. My actions (and yours) will be calculated.*
