In my opinion, racism is a lot more subtle in Canada. But once you look past the subtlety, you see it’s right in your face. Remember that in Canada, many white people are first, second, or third-generation Europeans. If you didn’t know, you should become aware that not all but many Europeans are incredibly racist. When it comes to Canada, the government has strict laws against racial discrimination. The racists there will tend to hide their racism to avoid those laws because Africans can sue and win the case fair and square.

A mainly caucasian establishment may not feature any form of a menu, dress code, or pleasure that is widely attributed to black people. Whereas in Belgium (for example), a nightclub owner might blatantly turn black patrons away based on race. A similar owner might forbid Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, or Zouk in Canada. The Canadian racist will let black people in if they dress, eat, speak or act like white people. If not, they won’t entertain that African, the immigrant of a black person, thoroughly.

They Call The Police on You

Another way racism works in Canada is through the nosey white neighbor. If that person happens to be a racist, they will call the police and complains when black people gather around. For example, a black father strolls his son or daughter on a warm summer afternoon. He will suddenly notice a group of cops observing him. That’s because a racist white bystander has called the po-po to report suspicious activity. That activity is the unsuspecting black man walking down the street with a kid, his kid.

In Canada, there is a substantial concentration of radical feminists who openly target, disrespect, and promote bias and discrimination against men. An African male can find being black quite challenging. If he’s not dealing with radical feminism, he has racism on his ass. The radical feminist may discover his culture as chauvinistic or misogynistic, and the racist might hate him because he’s black. And black women often struggle to fit into a society that considers blonde hair and blue eyes the standard of beauty. The African woman’s hair, hips, and robust nature are used to justify a racist remark or action toward her. Many people of color do not know what it feels like for people to accept them entirely.

A Word on Getting Followed

Driving while black, especially if it’s a nice car, can bring police harassment or confrontation. You will have to explain where you got that car from … Keeping lower-end jobs can be impossible, getting even minimum-wage jobs can be useless, relaxing at home to some music always ends with armed police at your door regardless if it’s in the daytime and most of all is the isolation. They won’t speak to you or acknowledge your presence, but they will secretly call the police, who will show up and either confront you or lurk in your surrounding. They ignore you to the point where loneliness becomes your fervor.

And because the racists are in the umbrae, you can’t determine who is racist. When I attended a training program in Burlington, Ontario, I noticed many white people would use slander or make subtle racist comments and jokes. Like, it rained black jokes every single day. And the worst part was I had to be strong emotionally because the moment you, as a black person, get enraged and react, you’ve just justified their stereotype and caused a widespread stigma on yourself.*
